Reflection

‘I want only the perfection that comes through faith in Christ’ St.Paul. ‘Today’Gospel’. It is wonderful when parents have faith in their children, a strong confidence in their abilities, a trust in them as they grow up. Isn’t it wonderful also when they pass on faith in Christ to them – a strong belief without proof. St. Paul says ‘I want only the perfection that comes through faith in Christ’. The faith is in a person who is both human and divine and who accompanies us through life’s journey. So often we are trying to do it ourselves alone. Christ meets us and accepts us where we are at just now. I find it wonderful to offer up my life along with Jesus life at the Consecration during Mass. To give over my will to God and to allow this to happen in God’s time not my time. He will gradually take over every part of us, mind, body and soul if we allow him. Indeed we will have many challenges as this happens. St. Paul accepted the loss of everything’ for Christ. I am invited to do the same, to give myself over minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. To make Jesus the focus of my life, surrendering all to Him. ‘I want only the perfection that comes through faith in Christ.’ A.S.
