There are two turning points each day, where darkness gradually turns to light and when light gradually turns to darkness. It is wonderful to honour both of these turnings of nature.
“They are happy who follow God’s Law”, Responsorial Psalm. This law is the law of love written in our hearts. Some days can flow along beautifully where we are left with a deep sense of fulfilment and satisfaction and this is possible no matter how simple our lives are. Other days may be topsy turvy where nothing seems to go right.
Matthew’s Gospel tells us “all you need say is “yes” if you mean yes, “no” if you mean no. We are called to say a loving “yes” to God because we are made to love him. When we do this we are on the road to freedom. God inspires our decisions and we begin to realise what the best decision is for all of me, for my mind, body and spirit. When we say “yes” to God it’s as if he says “I have you now”. There is a freedom in letting go and letting God take over – letting him clothe us in Love.
“They are happy who do his will, seeking him with all their hearts”, Psalm. Each day we hopefully grow and mature a little bit more. Our rising each morning like a little resurrection, our sleeping like a little death. Nature’s turning and weaving a little dance. A.S.
