St. Patrick’s Day, 17th March, 2014.

To-day, the feast of our national patron, is a day to celebrate all that is good in our lives and around us. It is a time to be proud of our Spiritual heritage and traditions. St. Patrick had great devotion to God and was always sensitive to God’s presence in creation. In to-day’s world where many people drift aimlessly in life, Patrick is a voice of hope. He took great confidence from God’s presence in his life. This then is a time for each of us to acknowledge God’s gentle presence in our lives. It is a time to pause for a moment in prayer, and like Patrick, not to be afraid to ask God for guidance, direction and an abundance of blessings.

Christ with me, to give meaning to my life. It is empty and lonely without you.
Christ before me, to lead me your Light, for you are the Light of the world.
Christ behind me, to protect me and give me a nudge when I feel like wilting.
Christ within me, to share my life and keep me true to you.
Christ beneath me, to be the goal of all my longings and desires.
Christ at my right hand, to hold me and accompany me on my way.
Christ at my left hand, to keep me from veering off the road to happiness.
Christ when I lie down, to rest with me and listen to the worries and concerns that confront me.
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, to communicate truthfully God’s good news.
