One Body, One Spirit, One Lord, One faith, One Baptism, One God.’

I was chatting to a friend of mine today about how Sunday is a family day and Sunday mass is a family event and celebration, how the church is full of parents with their children – how many people watch all the style as people make an effort to dress in their best outfits for the occasion.

St. Paul today talks of the Oneness of everything. One Body, One Spirit, One Lord, One faith, One Baptism, One God. The whole human race is one family – the human family. Because each person is unique there are many differences between us – in traditions, cultures, opinions, religions beliefs, outlooks, appearances, dress and so on.

St. Paul tells us to bear with one another charitably in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. Let us listen to one
another and nourish one another in our brokenness. Every person has a story to tell , listen to how they are with their story. So many want to be heard. Am I selfless, gentle and patient with others? Do I nourish other people? Do I partake in the sharing of the Bread of Life? In chatting to my friend we shared how both of us need to get out and connect with others every morning at mass, connect with our human family in our human brokenness. A.S.
