“I am the living bread which has come down from Heaven.” Today’s Gospel.

I remember making butter in an old style wooden churn. It was so amazing to see the cream turn into butter as I turned the handle around waiting for that moment.

“I am the living bread that came down from Heaven”. Without Jesus life wouldn’t be. He is the living bread. It is He who gives a purpose to life. It is He who fills our lives with meaning. ‘Through Him, with Him and in Him we live. Through Him life is’.

Our sufferings are united with those of Christ as we are also resurrected with Him. Take time to ponder on the mystery of creation, on the mystery of our own lives, on the mystery of the living Bread.

Take time to be alone, take time to BE. So many of us have to be busy all the time and cannot cope with being still and quiet. Let us live in the moment, not in the past, not in the future, but just NOW as that is where Jesus the Living Bread is. Making the butter was a wonderful yet ordinary experience. Jesus spent most of His life doing ordinary things. May we realise and become aware of Jesus presence with us, as we go about our daily life doing ordinary things.

‘I am the Living Bread which has come down from Heaven’.
