The Wedding at Cana.

I was at the funeral yesterday of a woman I knew all my life. She was 68. One of the most memorable times I spent with her was when we sat and looked at her wedding album. It was so beautiful and so simple. In fact it reflected the simple life this woman lived and of the joy she got our of doing the household tasks.

The Wedding of Cana is all about joy. It’s the story of Jesus turning water into wine because the supply had run out. It’s the story of Jesus blessing the Sacrament of Marriage. It’s the story of our hearts being changed into hearts of joy and love. We too can ask for a miracle. Wine warms, gives courage, relaxes, softens. Let the wine of God’s joy fill our hearts. Why not ask for this?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to radiate joy to all we meet? A smile, a kind word, a wave, a handshake, a good deed, the little things ofeveryday life. Be faithful in small things just as my friend was as she washed the dishes, ironed the clothes, swept the floor, prepared the meals as part of her daily work.Water and Wine – Life and Joy. A.S.
