The Body is for the Lord and the Lord for the Body’. Today’s Reading.

Many of us know what it’s like to have eaten too much, to have drank too much or to have over done something such as training in sports or being a workaholic.

Well today St. Paul gives us a very direct message – to respect our bodies. He tells us ‘the body is for the Lord and the Lord for the body.’ We are asked to keep our bodies for the Lord. While in a partnership each one of us is asked to respect the other deeply in every way – in thought, word and deeds as our way of demonstrating total love to the other.

Every person wants to love and be loved and often times we can just settle for less. St. Paul tells us ‘your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit’, the Temple being a place of Worship.

We also need to pay heed to messages from our bodies as there is such a thing as body wisdom. St. Paul also tells us ‘to use your body for the glory of God’ as you belong to God.

So just ask myself now, ‘How do I treat my body? Do I treat it well one day and badly the next day?

Do I realise it is a member of the Body of Christ?
