The Feast of the Epiphany

“From the East came the Magi to Bethlehem to adore the Lord, and opening their treasures they offered their precious gifts”:

Gold for the great King:
Incense for the true God
Myrrh in preparation for his burial.

It’s a celebration of the reality that Christ came for everyone.

In celebration of the feast of the Epiphany in Ireland, January, 6th is marked by Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Little Christmas. In many parts of Ireland traditionally, exhausted women relaxed with a cuppa and men took over the housekeeping duties for one day only!

As we journey through the beginning of 2013 many of us are hoping and praying for a good year. From a spiritual point of view the beginning of a new year is always a welcome opportunity. No one is praying for a perfect or trouble free year. But we do pray for God’s blessings, knowing that each day is a treasure of such blessings.

We pray for guidance & direction in our plans, hopes & dreams for the
future.
We pray for strength & courage to get through the challenges of each day.
We pray that we will be open to surprise, laughter and the joy that life
can bring.
We pray for balance in our lives throughout 2013, mindful that each day &
especially today is God’s most unique & precious gift to us.
